New Old Door

We have wanted a new back door in the kitchen since we moved in but they are just so pricey. I was thinking about just re-painting the one we had and adding a new handle to spruce it up, but then I noticed that it was just a panel so we removed it (in the hope that underneath couldn't be much worse than what we already had).

So, here is the before:

And here it is with the panel removed, awful colours but loved the style...phew!! Please excuse the tools and mess :)

And here it is now with two coats of chalk paint (Paris Grey) and a new handle and lock from this shop on ebay.

I'm really pleased with the result and its saved us a fortune!

Thank you for reading xx

  2. You lucky, lucky thing!! What a fabulous find!! So fabulous that that little gem had been hidden under a panel (why would anyone want to cover it up!?) What a great transformation! Thanks so much for linking up with #HomeEtc — hope to see you again next week! x

  4. Wow that was behind the door! Amazing! I love it! But does it keep the warmth in after you took off that panel? or was that panel put on to cover that amazing door?? haha http://2littlefaces.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/diy-exposed-bulb-chandelier.html #HomeEtc

    1. Hello, thank you! We honestly haven't noticed a difference, it doesn't let any draughts in which is a relief! What is strange though is I used to be constantly cleaning mould off the panel, and I think air used to get trapped between the door and the panel maybe? Not sure, but there is no sign of damp there now :) Thanks for stopping by xx
